Power Hour Painting Tips

Painting may be the most patience-pressing task ever. Here are some quick design and technique tips that will make it worth the effort.  Use one wall per room as the accent wall and the rest should be the main house color you have chosen for your light or mid-tone or dark theme.
The accent wall in the bedroom is best set behind the headboard of the bed. When repainting your house, first determine if you will be changing any furniture arrangements. When flipping a house try to get in the mind of the homebuyer. Logistically, where would they put the bed. Will that room likely be for a child with a crib or twin-size bed? Is it the master bedroom? In that case you will need to consider which wall would likely host a King- or Queen-sized bed?
Shoot! Study some Feng Shui for crying out loud.

Next, family rec rooms, sitting rooms and living rooms. An accent wall is often favored to be the wall that will hold the tv and/or a fireplace/mantel or main art wall of a formal sitting room.

In the dining room the sky is the limit and in the kitchen the accent wall is often the wall with all the cabinets and backsplash (so meditate before you begin or hire someone very talented). Between the backsplash tile, cabinetry, paint and trim you will want to jab a paintbrush in your own eye by the time it is said and done. Totally worth it though!

Let’s throw in a few closing techniques for painting yourself. Not actually painting yourself; I mean doing the painting yourself, although the former sounds far more entertaining. Maybe we do the next blog about that.
To prevent what is known as “lap marks”, try to paint the entire length of the wall, up and down. Then, be sure to just slightly overlap the edge of the last stroke you made before it starts to dry. Basically, if you get a notification on your phone, your kid is bleeding or the pizza dude is at the door, it is going to have to wait!

The chicken or the egg? Do you paint the trim first or the walls? According to familyhandyman.com, always paint the trim first, then the ceiling then the walls. We have done it both ways ourselves and it is certainly easier and faster to cover the trim with everyone’s arch-enemy “Blue Painter’s Tape” than it is to tape/cover the edges of the walls.

One other great tip from familyhandyman.com10 Interior House Painting Tips & Painting Techniques for the Perfect Paint Job is to give the paint a minimum of 24 hours to dry before attempting to take it off. Also, do not tear it off you Barbarian (I did for years until I heard these great tips).  It is common and likely to tear paint off of the wall (even dried paint) when you pull and tear willy-nilly.  Instead, use a sharp, small utility knife or box cutter (for the love of God be careful) and cut gently along the edge. Then (very important) tear as you go at a 45-degree angle.

A "zest for life" makes the best sales people

By: T. Merryman

Several months ago, a calm and confident woman sold me contacts for my eyes... and then some.
She was a petite blonde; conscious of her health; married with children and had a content but free spirit.
She was an excellent, not pushy and successful sales person.
Her spirit was confident.  She was even-keeled, calm and collected and made the experience about me.
She built instant rapport with her easy-going yet live-life-to-the-fullest attitude.

Fifteen minutes into the contacts, then glasses and eventually also sunglasses sale, I could taste her zest for life, which was not apparent at first. It sort of snuck up on my emotional palette with a flat, light note at the beginning and a fresh, earthy, long finish. If you know sales, you know that people buy based on emotion then justify after the fact with logic.
She knew her stuff, had great empathy and rapport, and was all about my experience. Between that and eventually learning more about her passion for life,  I was emotionally drawn to not only doing a deal with her but going in on all the up-sell's.

By the way, I told the ophthalmologist five minutes before I hit the sales floor that I was not interested in new glasses; just there for the exam and contacts.

This women's approach and energy was perfect to make a sale and it happened to be her authentic self; her truth shining through her work. When you love life and live it fully, it tends to bleed through all you do.
As someone in sales myself, this phenomenon always peaks my interest. By the way, I don't care what you do, who you are or what you believe by the way, everyone is in sales.  Shoot, our kid's sell to me every day (with multiple negotiations throughout the process).

I know that this woman's authentic passion for life, which fed our transaction, was and still is legitimate.
We exchanged information before I left and I discovered later on social media just how full of adventure and gratitude for life she really is.
She rides horses several times a week along side her daughters. In fact, her daughter's can be seen doing adventurous stunts such as standing on the horses;  trusting and connecting with them.

She hikes, travels and enjoys rock climbing often with her family. In fact, her father built an ice wall right outside of her front door so that she (all of their adventurous gang) could enjoy a daily adventure through the winter. It even had colorful LED lighting illuminating from the sculpture. She obviously was bred from passion and creativity... two resourceful energies that when combined with strategy and knowledge make for the very best sales people.

This woman sold glasses and such for a major, national company.  As we chatted through the transaction, I learned she was leaving the company to begin a new job the following week selling insurance.  She was transitioning to this new opportunity because it was a Monday through Friday way to make money, connect with people and free up her weekends indefinitely to explore, travel and adventure with her family.

I do not know for sure though I would bet good money that this woman was coveted at the eye glasses store, and that the same is true at her new company.  Her gratitude for life and sense of adventure poured over in excess to allow for authenticity and abundance to flow freely.  A gift for both the buyer and the seller.  Her prosperous and zesty spirit was palpable to me. People want that. People buy that.

If you want to increase your sales, find your authentic passions and be sure to practice gratitude in your life.  Be empathetic to your customer; listening and understanding their needs and their wants.
Take them for an adventure.

In salute to your adventurous and authentic life and future transactions,

T. Merryman

Energy Evolution: The Big Picture Of Human Experience

Energy Evolution:
The Big Picture Of Human Experience
By: Tina Merryman
Over-powering men; masculine women; goddess-like women and feminine men.
Are we out of balance in today’s world or doing a better (yet seemingly f’ed-up) job of getting an eternal balance?

I wish not to disengage men of their masculine energy, nor the energy of any woman whom has taken on a masculine role or tendencies.  After all, I played Rugby at a division I college, sang in a progressive rock band and marched drum line with mostly dude’s.
I am interested in disassembling people of their fear-based ego.  This is how we connect with intuition and are able to assess an individual threat versus always vibrating in a place where we attract an always hostile world.
Without this core-ability and balance, the heart chakra (your energy center for being open to give and to receive) remains unhealthy.
Your life is a mirror of your own frequency and expectations. Perception is a frequency which creates your individual reality.

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get into that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy, this is physics.”  - Albert Einstein
As for men and women who some may call severely out of balance or out of touch with their true biology or nature (such as gay, lesbian, transgender), I am not looking to change them or defend them; their experience and perspective are likely less about confusion and whims and more about the bigger picture in soul evolution.

I believe that as humans, despite the massive intelligence and worldly knowledge of some, we have an extremely limited ability to conceptualize the bigger picture of our past, present and future here on earth.

Our understanding of how and why we are here is minuscule within a lifetime.
An earthly human experience provides our spiritual-self (let’s call it soul) perspective and expansion.
Our individual perspective is intensified when we experience life because life on earth is a physical reality with so much contrast.
Through our emotions, the contrast in our lives shows us what we want (prefer) and what we don’t want.
I often refer to creation/God as Mother-Father God, which I first heard referenced as such by teacher and healer, Joanne Bracken.
Mother-Father God.
Masculine and Feminine in one source energy.
Consider that each human may be created in “his” image OR via evolution.
Do we live one life on earth with a grandfather-looking God in Heaven or are we the same, repeated balls of energy reincarnating since the beginning.
Do we have a soul age with the goal of mastering how to control energy from a place of true power (unconditional love); a soul age where we keep coming back until we have achieved that mastery?
Are we one-timer’s headed for Heaven or hell, or multidimensional being’s existing in various dimensions simultaneously.

I am not here to debate religious opinion though I will say that what you do believe regarding why we are here and what happens after death sort of makes all the difference in how you perceive your experiences in life, the experiences of others, as well as how and why you make decisions and live your life.
Why do third world men, women and children suffer? Why do children die? Why are some tortured? Why do some live in poverty and others born Into massive wealth. Why are some disabled or deformed and other’s athletic or aesthetically breath-taking? Is it at the hand of a bearded God? Is it reincarnated Karma? It is a divine blueprint we create before earthly entry?
Experts say energy can not be created or destroyed, it only changes form.
Consider that we are all an extension of Source energy or “God”, designed and set out in the world for the purpose of God’s expansion; for the purpose of creation expanding.
Perhaps new energy isn’t created; perhaps it is? Experts have thought a lot of things they were wrong about due to limited conceptualization. It doesn’t matter if we are universally working with the same amount of energy or not, we are each able to change our own energy through individual perception, experience and emotion.

Consider that God (creation) is utilizing our unique experiences in order to expand. Earth has been called “the leading edge of expansion” (Abraham Hicks).
During a human experience or “Life on Earth,” our perceptions and creations (manifestations) are formed through our unique perspective in a world of duality and contrast (just one of many dimensions as now identified by physicists).

Consider that. Then, look at history and evolution of our species and mass consciousness (understanding that this is just one playground or arena in all of God / the Universes infinity).
Look at the changes and extreme events and movements such as wars and treaties, economic recessions or crashes and upswings or boom’s. Look at civil rights, feminism, the LGBT movement.
Look at Woodstock; look at terrorism, abuse, riches, disease, fatal car crashes, amazing relationships, abundant joy, birth and death; the extremes are all over the place!

These “extremes of change” as I call them could be pleasurable or unmerciful pushes in evolution with birth and death being our entry and exit point for each new chapter in God/the Universes mass creation.

For an example, what if the feminist movement and LGBT is less based on women having to take the role of weak men or a mix up in biology respectively (even if that is the catalyst) and more about each human AND the collective mass consciousness becoming more like divine source creation. Metamorphosis is a struggle.
I love Earth but at the same time it sucks, hurts and kills!

Read that last paragraph again.
An experience some may call unnatural or unbalanced such as being a gay man or being a masculine and dominating business woman could be a unique perspective of source energy.
Some may argue it is bad for the balance of our individual tribes, future generations and being in control. Perhaps though there is a bigger picture. We may be struggling to grow stronger and more balanced with God-energy.
Perhaps each extension of God (each of us) is attempting to expand by working (and sometimes suffering) to find more of a balance with the masculine and feminine power within itself.
Will empires collapse? Likely. Will I want to forget all about this blog’s perspective if one day this misbalance becomes the demise of my country and family in this lifetime? Duh! Of course. I am no martyr that is for sure.
However, I am open-minded enough to at least consider that my life, the life of my beautiful and innocent children and the current state of the world is a mere scene in eternity’s journey.

Consider the human experience of mental retardation or physical handicaps, infertility, child abuse and more.
One of my three children is mentally and physically handicapped post brian cancer.

Some individuals in these experiences have a more resilient and beautiful life perspective and true joy than those in a “mainstream” human experience.
Our son is the happiest soul with an incredible power to manifest what he desires.

Did he choose this in cooperation with divine source before earthy entry. Is this situation for mere perspective through one lifetime and one soul’s experience? Who the F really knows for sure. Too many possibilities have been presented  and our knowledge of the universe is pea-brained.
Most of the truth we likely can not yet even conceptualize. So, to think we are currently out of balance and f’ing everything up in the grand scheme of things may be correct or it may be small thinking in the grand scheme of eternity.

Perhaps in this third dimensional world of contrast, we conceptually experience a separation from God or Source.
If so, we would be strongly effected by outside extremes. Extreme experiences are a big force in changing our inside frequencies; our yin-yang; the wholeness of our unique perspective.

Consider that the more balanced we are in our individual masculine and feminine energies, the more powerful we are. Then, the more balanced mass consciousness becomes, the more powerful God becomes. Perhaps God is continuing to expand through our experience and perhaps we can never truly F it up!?

You are not walking in another’s shoes. I appreciate everyone’s perspective (even though some seam selfish and weak and some seem overpowering, dark, jaded and even sadistic).

They all expand me and that is the most any of us know for sure in this dense reality of earthly experience.

I encourage you to open your mind before judgment and certainty. I thank each of you for your perspective, your own teachings and your role in God/The Universe’s expansion.

In truth, we know nothing. What if we are all a piece of the whole and when we strike the enemy, we strike part of ourselves. Perhaps we are each one part of the God-head striving life after life to work together?

Keep an open mind.

The only thing that we know is that we know nothing and that is the highest flight of human wisdom. -Leo Tolstoy

A Walk Through the Woods of Change
by: Tina Merryman

When what you desire becomes a standard of must, that is when it is 100% achievable!
- Tina Merryman

"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." - Napoleon Hill

Dreaming is fantastic… and it goes no where fast without planning and execution.
Yea, reading it back pisses me off, as well.  Still, it is true.

”Vision without action is merely a dream.” - Joel A. Barker

Well, what if organization and staying on task for example are not your forte’?

You can let that trait cover you like weeds, or you can commit to making a change in your standards and habits.
You could hire someone for example whom excels in the areas where you fall short.
Seek out a mentor or coach who can teach proven strategies and systems with your end goal in place and most importantly; hold you accountable with executing and tracking them.

Changing even little habits sucks at first as it challenges you almost to the core of your very essence; the genetic make-up even of who you are.
Changing cells and reprogramming functioning doesn’t always tickle.
Depending on your industry or life goal though, when you stick to the plan of a hired “Guru” or following a leader who has a proven track record, you will start to see things actually turn into a success, or an organized form, or clarity; love; healing; money; manifestation… it is more than worth the squeeze (or the choke hold as it may seem at first).

You may be the most emotionally unavailable soul, or socially scared human ever. You may be the most disorganized business man or woman; most impatient mother or father or lazy college coed on the planet. Whatever you need to overcome and whatever your dream or goal may be… no adversity is an excuse. You can bitch and moan for about 90 seconds (a Tony and Sage Robbins rule), then get over it and grow.

Consider disorganization or even laziness for example, this may be your instinctual preference (genetics met with how the planets aligned met with the habits you witnessed from elders as a child met with what the school system taught met with what media has advertised to you blah blah blah).

The bottom line is you can label yourself and even blame others or you can change habits and tendencies. Only one of the paths from this fork-in-the-road gets satisfying results and forces you to evolve. In fact, the other path just takes your ass in circles right back through the woods; somehow with more sticker bushes, ticks and rocks to trip you up than the last time you went that way.

It takes a practice of will power and a commitment to that will power in order to make lasting change.
You will fail and have set backs and yet you can do. Every single damn one of us!

The famous saying “knowing is half the battle” is spot on for sure and they left out the part about the other half of the battle.

To win the war, you have to fight the other half of the battle.
I am not one for war anecdotes or references and still this action packed image of when something becomes a must (fighting a war for instance in order to survive); well, that is when things become achievable and results take their place.
The war is won when the goal becomes a matter of must to you and your standards.
You are your standards.

The next time you are deep in the woods of which path to commit to in order to achieve what your heart or purpose is calling for… realize that even on the path of advancement, you still have a long walk to take. Choose the right path this time, the path of committing to growth, will power and change. Choose wisely because the other path is not being tended to and eventually it will be overtaken with weeds and swallow you into its foreverness of life complacency.

That other path will take you to the promise land if you stick to it and clear the weeds as you go. The secret to the path is commitment to yourself and your standards. The secret is your will.

The Mini Guru's Attitude Toward Circumstance

"Your circumstances have very little to do with your fulfillment. It's how you are approaching your circumstance's your attitude toward your circumstances that make all the difference in the world... Everything that comes my way is an opportunity; a blessing." - Dr. Wayne Dyer

Good week to you all. Love some Dr. Wayne Dyer; may he rest in peace. I couldn't agree with this more. Your problems are not problems at all; they are circumstances... challenges even.  The more resilient you become, you may even see them as gifts.

We have a son who was born normally and was diagnosed over a year later with a rare form of brain cancer, deep in the brain.  Eleven brain surgeries later, chemo, radiation and many other operations and procedures, he is cognitively and physically handicapped. He is the most grateful, happy, loving, resilient, brave and tough human we have ever known. Both of us. He is also the most powerful at manifesting his needs and desires. People often refer to him as "The Mini Guru."

This kid came to the world to experience and to teach gratitude and perspective. He is not stuck in his own head or sorrows. If anyone would have the right to be stuck in sorrows, by the standards of most people, this kid would qualify.

His attitude is incredibly powerful. He received love, care and respect, as strongly and consistently as he did  our expectations.  We expected him to have  gratitude even at the age of two with tubes  constantly connecting him to a pole, his entire vocabulary wiped out, one eye rolled up in his head, and being paralyzed on one side of his body.

We gave him constant love, respect, unwavering faith and the example of gratitude. The circumstances sucked and our attitudes were awesome. It made all the difference.  This kid could have easily died without the attitude toward the circumstances that he had, and that were modeled for him. Now, he has actual fans; grown-ass people who report that their life was quickly thrown into perspective after meeting Matthew in person or through social media.
He is inspirational despite all of his limitations. His circumstances became an opportunity to live life differently; not having to conform. His circumstances became a blessing; a gift to other's by providing perspective. His circumstances have very little to do with his fulfillment. His attitude makes all the difference.

THE DILIGENT SYMPHONY AND THE FOURTH GRADE BAND CONCERT

4/5/2019

By Brian and Tina Merryman

We recently experienced a mind-set speech from award-winning real estate investor, Stefan Aarnio.  A simple and memorable piece of wisdom from that speech will stand out in our minds forever.  He said, "If you are diligent overtime, success is inevitable. If you are negligent overtime, failure is inevitable.  Both are true one hundred percent of the time!"

Daily strategies and habits are crucial. Taking action is important yet there must be strategy behind it. In a modern world of immediate gratification, you must know that actions of due diligence based on proven systems and strategies do not yield overnight results.

Eventually though, diligence will produce success 100% of the time.
For the record, with a proven coach you should have a good idea of when.
You will likely  just need to wait to pop that bottle of champagne.
Trust us, the "aging process" is worth it.
The success will be palpable and pairs nicely with a well-rounded life and hard work!

It is as likely as a two year old having a temper tantrum that you will need to strategically make alterations to the targeted actions you have chosen for your business.
We own a few businesses and run a non-profit.  With this background, we feel qualified to say that a proven mentor or coach in your particular industry is the wisest investment you could make.

Forming strategies or following systems play like music to your ears when you have a guide. Maestro will aide in your practice and in your execution so that the end game is more like a symphony and less like a fourth grade band concert.

Even alterations should not be made until the original plan has been consistently executed, tracked and evaluated for an agreed upon length of time. You must prove something is or is  not working through due diligence. You can only succeed by knowing what does and does not work.

You can only know what does and does not work through that due diligence; daily execution, consistency, tracking and reviewing. Sounds as exciting as a monotone speaker in a lecture hall with no windows, but life and business are what you make it. Make it a game and have gratitude that you have the opportunity to do it. PERIOD.

Track your production (phone calls, marketing, networking, negotiating; orders placed or offers accepted; every single facet of your business).
You must always know what is going out and what is or is not coming in.
It is also crucial to review this on a consistent basis such as once a week.

Negligence. Oh, holy distraction's and laziness, Batman. Lack of strategy, or even using strategies but not tracking them will compose a failed business; one hundred percent of the time. If you really think about it, negligence causes failure in every life facet; doesn't it?
You can not neglect your significant other, children, your day job, health,  laundry, the dust that settles on your shelves, maintenance on your car or house.  Negligence is avoidance and not attending to the things that are part of your life and expectations will harm you, your asset's and everyone you care for.

Do your due diligence.  One hundred percent of the time.
Then, enjoy that bubbly because life is worth celebrating when you put in the passion and effort!

In Passionate Action,

Brian and Tina Merryman

Old McDonald Had a Niche'

Old McDonald had a farm and on this farm he had single family homes; detached, middle class income earners and quarter acre lots.

Basically, the farm was specific; Farm De La Niche'!

When we were told by our coach in the beginning of our real estate investment journey to choose our farms (or submarkets) we felt overwhelmed.

We thought, "How about the entire country?
If a house needs help and the numbers work; great!"

He explained that without an identifiable sub market or two, we didn't have a niche' or at least a focused target area to run things like a business.. That meant, we didn't have a real plan!

Hmmmm.... ok, coach. Go on.

First, coach explained why we wanted to focus on particular income areas, types of neighborhoods and types of housing. For example, no after repair values that compete with new builds or high end luxury homes and on the counter...  not in the ghetto!

Then, he explained that we needed to invest in transitional areas; areas that have established homes yet are in (or border)  a growing and desirable area.

Then, we started to zone in. We were mowing the fields so to speak for our niche' farm!
We didn't want to compete with new builds and we didn't want to invest the ghetto. Check!
We weren't interested in townhouses and condos because so many new one's were being built. Check!

We wanted to be the company who remodeled distressed homes into dream homes for the end buyer who couldn't qualify for a new build mortgage. Check!

Okay. Next, how would we identify the transitional areas?

By actually researching the area's development!

We needed to pick our own city for now and focus around that!

Many novice real estate investors have no clue what projects the city or county have planned for their area.  You don't have to join the Chamber of Commerce. Make some phone calls and/or get on the internet. Most of this development is public information and usually has easy to find, full articles and development plans available for you at the click of a laptop!

Once you are able to identify what development is happening and where, then you can identify the neighborhoods that tie these all together. The area will be transitioning and therefore so will the surrounding neighborhoods!

For example, are there major corporations coming into the city or county where you invest? How about hotels, warehouses, hospitals, schools, shopping centers?
Anything expanding? Military bases, universities, headquarter's, roads?!
Are their plans for improving or expanding transportation infrastructure?
What about community? Any parks, recreational facilities or gathering centers?

Learn where money, business and people are headed and invest strategically around this.

Best wishes to you and your transitioning farm. Eei lei oh!

Why personal growth should be your oath

"Income rarely exceeds personal development" - Jim Rohn

Oh if this isn't the most powerful realization that we have ever truly grasped; not only as a company but as individuals, as well.

If you are not moving forward with constant personal growth, then you are stuck like a pig in the mud or worse... your mental and action gears have malfunctioned into reverse.

Your individual life purpose/career/business only comes in a manual shift.
Flow and alignment are important, but there is no automatic gear shift to put your engine in drive.

Investing in a coach for every life-facet (with a minimum of at least one facet at a time) has a layered and lucrative return. You become a life balance ninja, or as our coach likes to view it, you become a master at life integration.

You can not find success in every area of your life all on your own. We are social creatures by nature and unless you are a hermit in the Appalachian mountains you will only continue to grow and achieve your goals if you invest in yourself (mind, body, spirit, education, skills) AND in your relationships.

Actually, forget that! Even the deep mountain folk can improve their hunting, gaming and survival skills when they invest in understanding their predators, prey, survival tactics and strategies.

Every one needs personal achievement to move forward in their lives.  Otherwise, you will always fall back to or remain in a middle-class mindset.  Scarcity and working for money instead of abundance and making money work for you happen when we stop improving our personal value  and relationships.

You have great value... cultivate it. Take the oath for personal growth!

Serving Who You Serve
by: Brian & Tina Merryman

“The more you know about your customers, the more you can provide to them information that is increasingly useful, relevant, and persuasive.” – Jay Baer

Business is a service; even when product-based.  That  warm and fuzzy value you  earn as a company is fed by how well you “serve those you serve.”

Sounds redundant, eh?!

In any business, you provide something to or for someone.
Investing your focus and resources into what that customer needs is the “Miracle Grow” of your reputation and value.
In real estate, knowing the market must be a priority, but understanding what your buyer/seller actually “needs” is vital!

For example, when you buy houses “in any condition or situation”, you experience the rawness of people’s lives and most often their needs.
In business, we must always navigate solutions with our customers.  In the world of real estate, sometimes our sellers are simply downsizing or relocating and we invest our time to help them facilitate the situation and make sure to expedite the closing.
Other times, the customer is crawling through the trenches of foreclosure, divorce, loss of a loved one while inheriting an estate, or repairs so extensive they keep them up at night.

Solving a problem for someone is just good business and it requires listening skills and empathy.

When you make a point to quite literally serve your customers, not only will your company’s reputation be one of great value; it will make your work purposeful. You know, warm and fuzzy.

Here’s to experiencing “all the feels” in your business.
